Summary

In collaboration with the Division of Administration, CPEX hosted two Governor’s Workshops for Governor Edwards’ administration, which brought together key stakeholders, including state agency executives, nonprofit leaders, and federal officials. The workshops aimed to foster a shared understanding of funding opportunities, priority criteria, and necessary steps for developing competitive projects aligning with climate adaptation, economic development, resiliency, and community development goals.

Adhering to the IIJA’s guiding principles of Equity, Labor, Climate, and Made in America, CPEX facilitated discussions on state agency priorities, cross-agency collaboration, and building the required capacity at state and local levels. This initiative aimed to position Louisiana competitively for federal funds, allowing the implementation of existing plans such as the Climate Action Plan and Statewide Transportation Plan to enhance residents’ quality of life.

Outcome

CPEX’s expertise was instrumental in seizing unprecedented federal funding opportunities, contributing to development of priorities, collaborative teams, and positioning the state for competitive and non-competitive funding. The organization conducted interviews with selected secretaries, developed a summary report shared with the Division of Administration and the Infrastructure Coordinator, and outlined next steps for the remainder of the administration, many of which have been completed.
